Belfast built the most famous ship on earth, and Titanic Belfast tells that story where it happened — on Queen’s Island, beside the great yellow Harland & Wolff cranes, over the slipways where the hull went down the ways in 1911. Nine galleries carry you from the shipyard gates to the wreck on the ocean floor, and the SS Nomadic — the last White Star Line ship afloat — is berthed alongside.
It was voted the world’s leading tourist attraction at the World Travel Awards, and it makes a full Belfast day: the political murals by black cab, lunch in the Cathedral Quarter, and the Giant’s Causeway an hour up the coast. For emigration families it closes the circle that begins on the quay at Cóbh.
